Indus Tributaries – High-Head Hydropower Complex Project (ITHH)

The ITHH Hydropower Complex Project includes three component projects namely, Khan Khwar, Duber Khwar & Allai Khwar Hydropower Projects. A JV led by NDC, comprising five Firms including one foreign Firm LAHMEYER and four local Firms as Associates including DMC, provided management consultancy services for the implementation of the Project since June, 2003. The scope of services, which were extended to cover period upto December, 2013, included evaluation of contractors bids for award of contracts; review, up-gradation & approval of designs and drawings; construction supervision; and contract administration. DMC provided services in the areas of review and upgradation of designs & drawings, construction supervision, contract management, installation & commissioning, of electormechanical equipment, environmental impact assessment and project costing.



A brief description of the project is given as under:
  1. Khan Khwar Dam – High Head Hydropower Project

  2. The project is located in district Shangla on Khan Khwar Tributary on Right Bank of river Indus. The installed capacity of the project is 72 MW with an average annual energy output of 306 GWh. The project comprised two Vertical Power Units of Francis type. The estimated cost of the project was Pak. Rupees 8,301.48 million. The project had been completed and commissioned in July-2012.
  3. Duber Khwar Dam – High Head Hydropower Project

  4. The project is located in district Kohistan on Duber Khwar Tributary on Right Bank of river Indus. The project has an installed capacity of 130 MW with average annual energy output of 595 GWh and two Power Units of Pelton type turbines. The estimated cost of the project was Pak. Rupees 16,324.47 million. The project was completed in December, 2013.
  5. Allai Khwar Dam – High Head Hydropower Project

  6. The project is located in district Battagram on Allai Khwar Tributary on Left Bank of river Indus. The project has installed capacity of 121 MW with average annual energy output of 463 GWh and two Power Units of Pelton type. The estimated cost of the project was Pak. Rupees 8,577.82 million. The project had been completed and commissioned in March-2013.
