Jagran-II Hydropower Project
48 MW Jagran-II Hydropower Project is a run of the river project downstream of existing 30MW Jagran-I
Hydropower Station. It is located on Jagran river, a tributary of Neelum river, about 12 km from Kundal Shahi Village in District Neelum
Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJ&K). The Project is being executed by Hydro Electric Board, Govt. of Azad Jammu Kashmir, Muzaffarabad.
The estimated cost of the project which is financed by AFD (French Development Agency) is US$ 71.6 Million.
The salient features of the project include
- 40 m. long and 10 m. high RCC DiversionWeir with Lateral Intake Structure.
- Desander (underground) with width of 10 m and100 m long Chamber.
- Headrace Tunnel (Horseshoe Shaped) Length 3850 m & Dia4.0 m
- Surge Tank 31 m high & 8 m Diameter.
- 4 No. Generators of rating 12000+10% kW each with Generating Voltage 11 kV.
- Outgoing Transmission Line from 132 kV Bus-Bars leading to Muzaffarabad Grid Station at 132 kV Line.
The consultancy services for the project were awarded to a Joint Venture led by ILF, Austria. The
other members of the J.V are ILF (Pak), DMC, PES and Euro Consultants Pakistan Limited.
DMC as a member of JV is providing a key role in the planning, design & implementation of the project.
For this purpose a full time Local Project Manager has been provided by DMC, who during the absence of an Expatriate Team Leader of the
Lead Firm with intermittent input on Project, works as an overall incharge of the project. The Project Manager is also responsible for
review, modification and approval of project designs & construction drawings; preparation of cost estimates, tender documents &
specifications of project components; assisting Client in tendering and contracting of project works; Phase-I i.e. review of design,
preparation of Contract documents, bidding and contracting has been completed in September-2016 and 2nd Phase of construction supervision
and contract administration has commenced w.e.f. October-2016.
