Raising Mangla Dam Project

The Mangla dam is located on river Jehlum in district Jehlum. The objective of the project is to replenish the storage capacity lost due to sedimentation in the reservoir. As a result of project completion, water availability for irrigation will increase by 2.88 MAF. The other benefits of the project are floodalleviation and augmentation of hydropower by12% of present energy generation. NESPAK led JV, including BARQAAB, provided consultancy services for the project. DMC provided specialized services as sub-consultants to BARQAAB and carried out identification and assessment of environmental & resettlement impacts, suggested mitigation measures, prepared Resettlement Action Plan and estimated cost of resettlement.
