Warsak Hydropower Project
Warsak Hydropower Plant is located on Kabul River at 30 km North-West of Peshawar city. The project was completed in two phases:
the first phase was completed in 1960 and consisted of construction of dam, irrigation tunnels and installation of four power generating
units, 40 MW capacities each with 132 kV transmission system. Two additional generating units (41.5 MW capacity each) were added in 1980
during second phase. The total installed capacity of the station thus became around 243 MW.

The Consultant commenced their services
on April 10th, 2017, Tuesday. Duration of the Services will be 84 months from the commencement date comprising activities and project
liability period. Services related to Activity 1, for the pre-bidding will be 4 months, Activity 2 for the bidding and contracting will
be 8 months, Activity 3 for the works phase will be 62 months and Activity 4 for the services during the Project Liability Period will be
12 months. Activity 5 for supervision and enhancement of workshop will be 2 months and Activity 6 for training will be 2 months. Activity
5 & 6 will be executed parallel to Activity 3.
DMC input includes design reviews, preparation of drawings & specifications, construction
supervision of all electrical & mechanical works, contract management, installation & commissioning of instrumentation equipment and all
related tasks. DMC is also the local coordinating Firm of the JV.
Further another two year study for flood forecasting hydromet stations for Kabul, Swat and Kunhar
River upstream of Warsak Dam.
Another study “Assistance for Community Development accompanying measures for Warsak Dam” for two years
has been initiated.
